Program Overview:
Our 3-year Diploma in Nursing program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the dynamic field of healthcare. This comprehensive program integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience, preparing graduates for rewarding careers in nursing.
Program Objectives
- To meet currently accepted local and contemporary international standards recommended for a practicing nurse from professional bodies;
- To access and evaluate current evidence and to base practices upon them;
- To optimize the therapeutic outcome by advising the health care team on aspects concerning nursing;
- To act as role models in both performance and for the future development of nursing and clinical services;
- To develop the transferable skills for life-long learning and continuous professional development;
- To explore and reflect upon their own clinical practice in view of continuous improvement
- To identify and respond to changes affecting the delivery of nursing care;
- To develop knowledge and skills necessary to work in specialized settings or in specialized roles;
- To provide quality nursing care in a range of healthcare settings and contexts.

- Recognized by Private Health Services Regulatory Council (PHSRC), Sri Lanka
- Registered in Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), Sri Lanka
Post qualification outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, students will have the opportunity to be employed at Healthcare Industries as a General Nurse, or work in a foreign hospitals, should they wish to do so. The students will also be eligible to apply for the private sector nursing registration through the Private Health Services Regulatory Council (PHSRC). From an academic view point, many students who complete the course qualify to apply for a Bachelor of Nursing “top-up” degree.
Course Duration : 3 years – 06 Semester
Entry Requirements
- Students must meet the qualifications outlined in any of the following requirements;
- Advanced Level 3 passes in Bio stream or equivalent.
- OR
- Advanced Level 3 passes in Any stream with minimum 01 year Prior Experiences in Nursing Field .
- OR
- Completion NVQ level 04 in Nurse Assistant.
Program Details
As per the NVQ Operation Manual, minimum no. of credits required for level 06 is 120. One credit is equal to 25 notional hours.
